I think Darren would be more suited to giving great insight into the Brakhage, and I can certainly push myself for more Bergman. That is, if Darren thinks he can get hold of copies sometime soon...

Yeah, I'll give Brakhage a shot. I already have the original Criterion DVDs, but I just ordered the new set, which includes twice as many films, all of them hi-def.

I'm working on By Brakhage. I promise. But writing an introduction to 56 films by the most important avant-garde filmmaker of all time for a reader who may have never seen an a-g film is proving to be both really fun and really hard.
