Dear A&Fers:

It is with great pride that we announce the 2011 Top 100 Films website is now live at http://artsandfaith.com/t100/2011/t100 http://artsandfaith.com/t100/

The introduction this year, written by Steven D. Greydanus, is today's "Good Letters" posts here.

Even though we had a head start this year, we still had 34 new films to construct pages for, etc. so the site is 97% complete.

Please bear with us as we add the final bits and pieces of info. Naturally, if you catch an error (rather than an omission we're obviously working on), please pass it along to Anna Johnson.

(There are a few annoying things we just haven't had time to fix yet: for example: the "Top 100" text/breadcrumb link on each film page on the site leads you back to the 2010 list. But again, we'll get to that!

It is 11 pm on the west coast and Anna is just leaving the office. She has put in a super-human effort on this, aided by our intern Markus (with as assist from another intern, Nicole). Thank them if you think of it.

The Top 25 Horror Films list will go live on Tuesday, the same day we send out the press release covering both lists.

Thanks again to all of YOU who have worked to make this year's lists possible.

P.S. I am aware some of the foreign titles still need a little help - will get to them tomorrow. Thanks everybody.

Anna, Markus, Greg, thanks for the hard work. It's awesome. Can't wait to pass this list around.

And for all you blurb-writers, I'd like to say that the write-ups for our new films are nothing short of wonderful.

Anna, Markus, Nicole & Greg--the list looks great--so exciting.

Quick notes for your awareness: The Ikiru and Munyurangabo links lead to error pages, and the #91 Dogville link leads to another film.

I love this town.

And what a great morning: Arcade Fire wins Best Album. Radiohead announces their new release. The Arts and Faith Top 100. And Justin Bieber crashed the junket for Rango with Johnny Depp. What more could we hope to celebrate?

Well done, Steven - very catchy, yet content-rich, intro.

And quite a good introduction it is, and not only because he uses the word "aegis."

the junket for Rango with Johnny Depp. What more could we hope to celebrate?

Are you sure it wasn't John Mayer in his Johnny Depp costume from last night?

He stole that word from me. He's stealing my stuff all the time, and it really gets annoying after all. these. years.

Wouldn't the word "aegis" have been more suitably used in the intro to the Horror list? I mean, considering that the original aegis in Greco-Roman mythology was basically a reliquary of sorts for the head of Medusa, the woman with snakes for hair whose gaze could turn people to stone, etc.

(Hoo, boy, there are times I wish I was still an undergraduate double-majoring in History and Religious Studies...)

Using it in my Top 100 intro was my subtle protest at not being asked to write both introductions.
