He's fictional, but you can't have everything.

Premiere this Sunday (10/23).

Early review of the pilot, plus interview with writers/producers from Vancouver Sun. Connections with LOST & Disney abound.

The pilot is streaming on IMDB, for some reason.

It's like Into The Woods meets Enchanted, but not good as either of them.

BTW, Jennifer Morrison (Cameron on House) is really the star/protagonist of the show.

Lame-ity lame-ity lame lame lameness.

I won't be tuning in again unless this show has an unbelievable turnaround in the writing.

Its conception of fairy tales is as Hallmark-cardish and post-Disney prettified as they come. Its fairy tale characters don't talk like characters in fairy tales, but like characters in bad Disney Saturday-morning spinoffs of fairy tales. The effects looked lame. And the child fulfills my biggest pet peeve regarding children in TV and the movies... he talks like an adult, not like a kid.

Anne and I both had to struggle to hold on until the end of the episode. We won't be tuning in again. I sure hope GRIMM is better than this.

Matt Roush says by episode 3, it gets better.

Quote

I was initially underwhelmed by all the heavy-handed whimsy, but I began to take Once a bit more seriously upon sampling the upcoming third episode. It cleverly weaves Lost-like flashbacks — the show's creators are Lost vets, and it shows — taking us back to
Spoiler
). There's gorgeous fun to be had here

I'm sticking with it for a while.

Carmen Andres likes it, too.

I'm up to about December now (watched the episode focusing on The Huntsman yesterday). My wife has dropped it. I'm beginning to like it more than Grimm, which she still watches. The story is finally starting to develop more characters along the way. Finally starting to see the overall Sleeping Beauty story take shape.
