Saw it with my 5-year-old and just-turned-4-year-old. The crowd at the second-run theater was decent for a low-grossing film that's played there a couple of weeks already. I'm always surprised at how long the theater will keep family-oriented films, even underperformers. I think parents love having a place to drop off their children for a blessed 90 minutes, at low cost.
Me and a woman across the aisle laughed much more robustly than others in the theater. Not that the film was a constant laugh riot, but it's good natured humor includes several belly laughs. Nevertheless, I feel like Aardman films always stretch to get to feature length. I could see this working a bit more crisply as an hour-long TV special. Yet despite some padding, I enjoyed the film and will recommend it to others.
