So... any significant snubs?
Just looking at the box-office top twenty for the year (and let's face it, a lot of the most effects-heavy films are blockbusters or would-be blockbusters), I see Twilight 4
and Fast Five
... should they have been considered? (I'm omitting the animated features, the modestly-budgeted R-rated comedies and The Help
for obvious reasons.)
Oh, wait, and the film currently in the #21 spot is Green Lantern
-- why wasn't THAT film included here? Do, say, a few dinosaur shots in The Tree of Life
really merit THAT much more attention than the vigorous bringing-to-life of an entire comic-book universe? (We might argue that The Tree of Life
used its effects shots more artfully, and set them to better music etc., but that's a rather different question.)
Hmmm. Other effects-heavy films in the top forty that were left off the list: Battle: Los Angeles
