Of course your talking to the guy who once gave a paper at MCLLM called...

MCLLM. Sounds like a very odd date, rendered in Roman Numerals.

But I'm betting it stands for something. "Mount Carmel Library's Literary Moshpit"?

Alright, as of "The Day Of The Jackal," we're at...

206 down, 160 to go
(To date: 160 separate films + 46 dates covered by films already used)

So that's ten new dates filled since our last update (on America's birthday, commemorated in such notable films as DOGVILLE, BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY, ANDRE and many others)

March 25, 1951 (Easter Sunday)

Broadcast date of HILL NUMBER ONE: Korean War setting, Easter Sunday, so it's a reasonable guess that it's meant to be taking place that very day.

"Another dismal day during the Korean War becomes very special for Pvt Huntington (Roddy McDowell) and his fellow soldiers when the padre arrives with a little hot coffee and the story of Easter-victory at Hill Number One." James Dean makes his screen acting debut as the apostle John! (Incorrectly credited on the video box as John The Baptist, who was dead by then: oh, those pagan folks at Rhino...)

I hesitate to add yet one more to July 4, but the big party when DJay tries to get his music to Skinny in Hustle and Flow goes there as well.

Oh, I should have taken a note pad with me to see Saint Ralph. Each month notes a saint's feast day. Also there is a Boxing Day race and the Boston Marathon (Patriot's Day), also a key theme in a subplot takes place on Holy Thursday.

Adding SAINT RALPH and a late-night search of the "Quotes" section in IMDb, we leap ahead thusly...

Updated August 18, 2005:
242 down, 124 to go
(197 unique films + 45 dates covered by films already used)

Yup. We just passed the 2/3 mark!

And by the way, keep those duplicate dates coming. It'll give so much more room to maneuver once we've roughed the whole thing in.

A couple from Bird (both on dates already marked): 9/1 - Parker attempts suicide, 3/12 - Parker dies. (I wasn't paying attention, but it's possible that there are dates on telegrams he sends his wife when their daughter dies [around 2:10 into the film])

A Very Long Engagement is full of dates, but I wasn't taking notes... shame on me.

January 7 is the pivotal date, when the five condemned prisoners are sent into no man's land.
