Lightships is the side project of Teenage Fanclub's Gerard Love, and Electric Cables basically sounds like an album full of Love's recent TFC tunes. If you like breezy pop, then you'll really like this. The album also features some former Teenage Fanclub member, as well as folks from other Scottish bands (Belle and Sebastian, the Pastels). There's noting world-shaking here, but the album is getting great reviews across the board because — or at least I think because — it's so consistently pleasant. It gets maybe a bit too breezy by the end, and too uniformly similar. But hey, this is a keeper.
