I see a couple of mentions of this film on the board, but not with any commentary yet.

I hadn't heard of it before last night; I saw it last night at the video store and my wife knew it was in the vein of Calendar Girls, which she had liked, and wanted to see it. So we did. And it surprised me. Much less frivolous than I thought it might come across. And much less about the nudity than I thought. Which, in this day and age, I can appreciate.

Loved this one; easily one of my favorites last Christmas. Didn't feel the time slip by at all. One of the few recent movies where I have felt absolutely no urge to check my watch; indeed, it never even occurred to me.

My Granny watched this one when it came out here - it was one of the last films we talked about - and she absolutely loved it. She said it really captured "how it was" (I guess she means the general feel of the period and the social circles, rather than in such a club per se).
