Ikiru (1952) aka To Live A rather dull bureacrat, upon learning of his imminent death, begins a sad search for meaning in the few months remaining to him. In doing so, he wanders through many of the questions posed in Ecclesiastes--searching for his own pleasure, then for the company of a younger woman. In doing so he arrives at a decision allowing him to live more in the last few months of his life that he did in most of his previous years. At times very funny, at other times sad, one of master Kurosawa's greatest films.
