  1. Alan, It's not a biggie. Link it from here to there from there to here, I don't care. I just thought it was interesting that Google was now doing something at this level and my buddy commented about it being "Big Brother." That does seem kinda scary. Yes?
  2. No. I was referring to the way you drive. j/k
  3. I realized that there was a "Google Maps" thread. But the one that I put up yesterday was Google Maps at STREET LEVEL.
  4. I bought a Compaq Presario R3000. Guess what? It worked two years and died. $2000 in two years. THATS NOT a good life span. Now I have a desktop. I'm ready to either fix the laptop and put it in my son's room or get him a Dell laptop for just over $500. One of my buds at work can put a new motherboard in the Compaq. But it's taking him a long time. So I may go with the Dell. I dunno. But I hate that companies want you to spend over and above for extra warranty when you spend enough on a computer as it already is. It's getting cheaper, but still. Man, I feel your pain.
  5. Didn't see this anywhere at this forum. "Ahem" if its already up. But it was only a matter of time...Street View I hope to make it to your house sometime.
  6. What would it take to get you out of it? Cause I'll do it if you want me to.
  7. Hey. Just want you guys to know. I luv ya man. Rich? Gotta hug for me man? JO? C'mon...give it up. Michael Todd. Remember? Brotha's gotta hug? C'mon man. Lay it on me.

  9. She's the man! Well...OK...no...but...LOVE Miranda! Her and Toby Keith.
  10. An interesting stat and reason for consumerism. This is the kind of thing I'm talking about whenever I've talked about something having a "deeper impulse at work" in it. A Moment of Zen...
  11. I don't recall seeing ANYTHING like that in Spiderman.
  12. So Jim, did you feeling any tingling sensations in your outer extremities at all? Were any of your senses heightened? Maybe another one added to the mix or sum'n? Do you find you have a deep compulsion to make webs when you knit?

I agree with you Peter. This is about the on screen couple. However, what do you say to the idea that she says in interviews that this is an accurate portrayal as far as they come? I think what Darrel was getting at by saying that he was mediocre was that he didn't really want to become anything more and that had he reached his plateau as far as his profession is concerned. I have to watch this again.

Well, you may want to refer to this electronic book, chap 4. However, you may want to read every chapter. Though I'm not in full agreement with Rob Brow on every point, I would agree that there was an adulteration of the marriage in this case.

Well, yes. It can apply to both. In this case though, it seems to apply to her. But I like your thoughts that he is the antithesis of the students and that he has slipped into mediocrity which can also be seen as a contributing factor in the downfall of her marriage which is why as Peter says it becomes quite complex and judgment should not be passed on it.

I'm merely saying that if her work life interrupted her marital relationship as I suggested earlier, then that constitutes adultery of sorts. That's what I meant. I know there was no infidelity or impropriety on her part.

Christian, doesn't her husband complain about being "just an architect?"

Well, for the most part I agree with Peter. She ends up committing "adultery." She's seems like she's more in love with her students and job and basically puts her husband on the back burner. At least that's the way it seems portrayed to me. He seemed like he was supportive of her but as Toby Keith sings, his attitude is like, "We can talk about this that and the other thing about you. You make me smile, but once in awhile, "I wanna talk about me." I don't know if I would call that self-centered. That seems like a basic human need. However, I agree with your assessment of his being the antithesis to the students. But it isn't only them, it's his wife as well.

Yeah. The movie made it seem that though he chose to leave, what other choice did he have? They were merely co-existing together. She was "married to another"--her students. Though it portrayed the split was pretty hard on her.

Just watched this today. Peter, in your interview with Erin Gruwell, did you sense that she herself was a person of faith? Also, what do you think of the fact that her marriage went to pot seemingly over her (over?) involvement with her students?
