A rival boxer says the protagonist's wife has never been with a "real man", the protagonist punches back, and someone close to the protagonist dies as a result of the ensuing melee? Feels very Rocky III (though I can't recall if that all happened in a single scene in that film, or if the "real man" scene and the death-of-friend scene were two different scenes).

... Ah, different scenes it is. Now that I think about it, Burgess Meredith dies after Rocky loses his first fight with Clubber, right?

No ... in the dressing room beforehand. Then only Paulie is left in Rocky's corner for the actual fight and he just tells Rocky, "go kick his ass" -- which is NOT how to handle a Clubber Lang.

Yeah ... well ... I'm gonna have to go ahead and disagree with you there on that one.
