  1. We're upgrading the board and re-skinning it this weekend. The forum might be down for a few hours. Thanks.
  2. Here's the page for y'all to take a look. Please comment on this thread or email me at johnsa2@spu.edu with edits. Please do not post this list publicly yet; we are revealing it in a few hours at approx. 6am PST 1am PST with the accompanying blog post. (M. Leary's post is not linked yet, but will be within the hour.)

Top 25: Discussion of Nominations for 2014

Wow, I had no idea what y'all had picked for the theme until just now. I can't wait. People have been itching to do a comedy list for quite awhile now, yeah? Glad we finally did it. I will peruse the list and see if I have any nominations.

Thanks to Anna Johnson for all her help on A&F

Thanks, friends. I will still be around for sure!
  5. So, for the last six years, IMAGE's website imagejournal.org has been hosted with a company called Medium (thisismedium.com). Our bandwidth is hosted there, our web editing is on their proprietary software, and their in-house developers have managed our large edits (small content edits have been by IMAGE staff). But Medium has closed its doors, so we need a new place to call home. Unfortunately, we don't have the means right now to start over from scratch and redesign our website entirely, which is too bad, because we'd been hoping to do so this year. So what we need is a new company to take on our hosting, our software, and our development, until we have a chance to launch a redesign. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    The Turning (2013)

And I just learned a new phrase. And I just learned a new phrase that describes all the film and TV I love.

    Les Miserables--TV Show

I saw that Rob Thomas tweeted something cryptic about Les Mis but I didn't click through! This looks like it will probably be absolutely horrible AND AMAZING, except that there won't be music. Boo. Count me in anyway.

    Paperback to the Future

That sounds awesome and I wish I were reading all of the unread books I own already.
  9. Me neither. I think it's because of an FTP issue. Jason and I are working on it. Also: I had to go to the very bottom of the page and click "Change Theme" next to the orange RSS icon, and choose "Image3". Before I did that, it only showed me the new skin when I wasn't logged in.
  10. Can you guys see the new skin? I set it to default (THANKS JASON!)

    The World's End (2013)

I can't wait to see it again. It might be my favorite of the three, but I'd have to watch TWE and Hot Fuzz each several times in succession to accurately make that judgment. Poor me.

    Pompeii

I'm looking forward to seeing gormless Jon Snow's single expression for another two hours.

The Sound of Music Live! (2013)

Ok well maybe he can sing but I can never forgive Carrie Underwood.

    Hell on Wheels

I just mainlined the entire series in the past week. I am LOVING it as well. The faith elements keep getting more intriguing. Mark Richard is a consulting producer and has written several episodes. I heard him read at Calvin Festival of Faith and Writing last year. Wish we could get him to write for IMAGE.

    Spammers

When I get back to the office on Monday I'll check this out. Thanks, everyone.
  17. Is it working ok for everyone now? Any more errors? We probably won't be able to get to the skins until after Glen West (second or third week of August), so...have fun with the blue board for awhile
  18. Hi friends, I've finally made the upgrade that the board has wanted for several months. It should fix the following things: 1) The "Driver Error" crash that we've seen twice now 2) The URL4Short spambots 3) The slowness that was happening in late May/early June. Let me know if anything is weird or not working right! Thank you opus for helping us!!!

I Just Really Like Five Iron Frenzy

A couple members of FIF started a church/homeless ministry in Denver called Scum of the Earth, a branch of which I attended in Seattle for awhile. Really cool people.

    Luther

I loved the cab driver episode. Nicola Walker is so fierce, and her face is glorious. Also, good job Luther for figuring out the taxi driver thing quicker than Sherlock, hahaha. The Paul Rhys episode, the one with blood all over the walls, was so creepy I couldn't sleep for days. I need Alice.

I'm right there with you, BethR. A man can work a ScanGen.

    To the Wonder (2012)

Haha, Sam Shepard looks angelic, which I'm certain is intentional.

    Forum Downtime?

Hey y'all (imagine I'm saying this in a Tami Taylor voice), I was required to "update the nameservers" for artsandfaith.com. I don't really understand but I did as I was told by the hosting service. If something goes wrong, tweet me at @annajoy7. Or email me or Greg. You can email us too--but I get tweets more quickly on my phone. Another weird thing: When I log in I see an orange "UNAPPROVED" balloon next to several of the forums. So my questions are: 1) Are y'all seeing that too? 2) If not, are you having trouble posting, or are your posts not visible, in any of the subforums or anywhere? I haven't seen that before so I'm not sure if the board suddenly got updated to an "approval only" mode, or something. I suppose it's difficult for you to know immediately if your posts are not being seen by anyone else. Ha. I apologize for the awkwardness of this post-- we are at the Glen so I just want to make sure the board doesn't shut down or something while we're gone!

    This Is the End

I saw this last night. I don't think Christian subculture will really have much of a reaction at all to the film...but I do think, despite all the silly theology, that it's interesting a bunch of Hollywood comedians are taking the whole salvation thing even a tiny bit seriously. The communal wondering and brainstorming about how one gets into heaven was sweetly earnest, I thought, even if it was ludicrous. I haven't laughed that hard at a movie in a very long while, although it reached new levels of crassness. And that ending. Worth the price of admission, to be honest.
