My heart's desire is to make films and I am continually working to be better and better at shaping that vision. I am a Senior at Union University in Jackson, TN working on a Digital Media Studies major. I create at least one short film each semester and also work on developing full-length scripts during the breaks. I am trying to determine plans after graduating and I'm looking at either film school or settling into a city with a strong film community and working at a more grassroots level while developing my craft.

The latest short film that I have made is "Within a Room Somewhere" (www.withinaroomsomewhere.com) and it will be coming to film festivals this fall.

Aside from filmmaking, I enjoy writing and watching films and listening to music as somewhat of a critic. I write a lot of reviews for my webpage Loconotion.net aside from using the page as a creative outlet.

  1. I think this has been a great year so far with several reasons why: Garden State Kill Bill Vol. 2 Before Sunset Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind The Passion of the Christ Hero Dogville I'm Not Scared Carandiru Saved! Napoleon Dynamite The Door in the Floor There have even been some pretty good Hollywood efforts such as Spider-Man 2 and Shrek 2. I'll admit, I even appreciated the new Dawn of the Dead. Normally I'm not this satisfied with the year's films until year end. As it is, we've still got 4 more months to go. I'm definitely looking forward to I Heart Huckabees, The Life Aquatic, and Sideways among others that are coming out before this year comes to an end.
  2. I think it was definitely the people that made Flickerings enjoyable. I caught some of the screenings and really enjoyed them (The Man Without a Past, Yi Yi, and Jesus of Montreal). As for the film showcases, I only got to see to the best of Flickerings which did seem a bit lacking in comparison to last year, but had a couple really good shorts as well (What's Wrong With This Picture and The Last Round are the first that come to mind). But really, getting to talk with people about film was probably the highlight of it all for me. As for music, the lineup was weaker this year, but there were some really good bands that I got to see. I'll be posting a journal on my webpage (www.loconotion.net) soon of the entire festival.
  3. I'd also like to see Kill Bill Vol. 2 in the running for Original Screenplay and Cinematography.
  4. Maybe your Quick Time isn't set up correctly. It's been working fine for most other people. I encoded it in Sorenson, which is pretty universal normally.
  5. I've just finished up on my second short film Another One Exception and I'd like people outside of my school to see it too so I can get thoughts and suggestions. I have it posted on my web page at Loconotion.net. After you watch it, please e-mail me and let me know what you think. Thanks much. Trae
