Recommended Posts

From this week's Christian Century:

The editors of Publishers Weekly judge these titles the best religious books published this year:

  • by Sue Fishkoff (Schocken).

Living a Year of Kaddish by Ari L. Goldman (Schocken)

Jonathan Edwards: A Life by Feorge M. Marsden (Yale Univ. Press)

Beyond Belief: The Secret Gospel of Thomas by Elaine Pagels (Random House)

American Jesus:How the Son of God Became a National Icon by Stephen Prothero (Farrar, Strauss & Giroux)

A People Adrift: The Crisis of the Roman Catholic Church in America by Peter Steinfels (Simon & Schuster)

Hardcore Zen: Punk Rock, Monster Movies and The Truth About Reality by Brad Warner (Wisdom)

Rumors of Another World: What on Earth Are We Missing? by Philip Yancey (Zondervan)

Only Pagel's Beyond Belief made it onto the best-seller lists. The best seller in religion was Rick Warren's The Purpose-Driven Life, with more than 8 million copies sold since its release a year ago.
