Has Vijay Iyer's Accelerando fallen off the chart? We seemed enthusiastic when it was released.

I posted my top ten on Facebook last week, Christina, and Accelerando was on it-- but since then, I've heard the Bobby Womack, which edged it out. Still love Accelerando-- an essential album for his "Human Nature" cover alone, I think.

That's fine, Josh. And don't call me "Christina." ;)

I was enjoying "Human Nature" the other day, wondering if it was a great jazz recording, or just a familiar melody played (more than) pleasantly.

Sharon Van Etten

La Grande Sophie

Tennis

Amanda Mair

Moore + Sons

Frankie Rose

Hunx

Sophia Knapp

Anaïs

Annie Gallup

Gentleman Jesse

Lonely Drifter Karen

Loudon Wainwright III

Allo Darlin'

We Are Serenades

Dar Williams

Norah Jones

Richard Hawley

The School

Beach House

Best Coast

Saint Etienne

Ladyhawke

Broken Water

Marissa Nadler

The Walkmen

Crocodiles

Friends

Kelly Hogan

Mynabirds

Shonen Knife

but I've just started to listen to the top of the pile... 'cause i've just finished my 2011 comp! (it makes 4 CDs, it's been a great year for music, and especially rock'n'roll!)

Anyway so far, I really like Porcelain Raft, Chairlift, Beth Jeans Houghton and Lana Del Rey. On the other hand, I can't stand First Aid Kit upon a few listens, the singer sings too loud. It was hard already with Lori McKenna and Lydia Loveless, though I kept a few tracks for my 2011's comp.

Haven't quite decided on Mount Eerie, yet.

I still have yet to really dig into the new albums from mewithoutYou, Richard Hawley, and Paul Buchanan, but I suspect they'll be on my list too.

I'm not too proud to admit that I have been looking forward to these lists for a long time now. Thank you, friends.

The 2012 releases I have listened to most are Voyager, New Multitudes and (my favorite, a time machine) Mermaid Ave. Vol III.

Thanks Darren! Very cool. Can subscribers add selections, do you know? I notice a few you missed.

I buy very little new music, but here's my huge list of faves in descending order:

Rush, Clockwork Angels

Springsteen, Wrecking Ball

Regina Spektor, What We Saw from the Cheap Seats

I was rather meh about Sigur Ros' latest. Probably next on my music purchase list is Sara Watkins' new CD.

Has anyone started a 2012 mix yet?

I know that "Old L.A." from the New Multitudes will be featured prominently on my mix, when I make it.

A bit past the halfway point here, but I don't necessarily want to start a new thread.

I think this is my top 12 (for 2012, hah!), so far. In alphabetical order.

The Bad Plus - Made Possible

Ben Folds Five - The Sound of the Life of the Mind

Calexico - Algiers

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - 'Allelujah! Don't Bend! Ascend!

Farrar, Johnston, James, Parker - New Multitudes

The Helio Sequence - Negotiations

Lost in the Trees - A Church That Fits Our Needs

Redd Kross - Researching the Blues

John K. Samson - Provincial

Spain - The Soul of Spain

Southeast Engine - Canaanville EP

The Twilight Sad - No One Can Ever Know

I've been playing catch-up over the past few weeks, and I'm surprised at how some stuff I liked earlier on got shoved off the list completely.

Wow. I have heard exactly one of those albums, Jason. (Lost in the Trees.) I guess I need to get to work. My top 10 is very uninspiring at this point.
