Not a very inspiring list.

An even less inspiring slate of nominees:

 

John Williams, The Book Thief

Steven Price, Gravity

William Butler and Owen Pallett, Her

Alexandre Desplat, Philomena

Thomas Newman, Saving Mr. Banks

 

Among those choices, I'd go with either Newman or Butler and Pallett.  As long as it's not Price, I don't really care, but it probably will be.

Alfonso de Vilallonga's score for Blancanieves blows all these nominations out of the water.

That's not exactly a difficult feat.  E.g: Howard Shore's score for Desolation of Smaug blows these nominees out of the water.

 

Still, it's good to hear.  I'll make sure to catch up with Blancanieves at some point.
