Some interesting setlists from the current Radiohead tour are online here, along with brief reviews:

I gotta hand it to these guys... they keep their setlists pretty unpredictable. Most shows start with either "2+2=5" or "There There," but other than that they're mixing things up pretty well. Of course, that means that they're likely to skip a lot of fan favorites, but it still sounds like a solid tour.

Don't suppose anyone here has seen 'em recently...?

I wish. Unfortunately the closest stop to me (Vancouver, Aug 30) is still a little bit out of the way, and expensive to visit. Though, with REM and Wilco it would definitely be worth it. Too bad.

  • 2 weeks later...

Here are Radiohead and REM setlists from my mindblowing musical weekend.

I had a great seat near the stage for Radiohead, and stood near the front of the crowd for the best REM show I've seen since 89. The REM guys were as energetic and hard-rocking as they've ever been. Interesting highlight: Michael Stipe introduced the rarely-played "New Test Leper" saying he wrote the song because he wanted to follow the tradition of Lou Reed and Patti Smith, who have both written songs that mention Jesus in the first line. He also said that "New Test Leper", which is about the way the media and the church can destroy someone for their admitted lack of faith, is Peter Buck's favorite REM song.

The REM setlist looks mostly GREAT, though the lack of love for Monster and "E-Bow the Letter" pisses me off.

How did the Hail to the Thief songs translate into live performances? I'm especially curious as to how they pulled off "Backdrifts." (And, frankly, WHY they pulled off "Backdrifts"... that song grates on my nerves).

Both of the new songs are of a "What's the Frequency, Kenneth" color, fast, energetic, catchy, radio-ready rock'n'roll. The lyrics to Bad Day are very very interesting... I need get hold of them and post them here.
