SciFi Writers of America obituary, with link to Seattle Post-Intelligencer obituary.

Butler's SFWA homepage, listing all her books, some with reviews.

Of particular interest to A&F, perhaps, her "parable" novels, Parable of the Sower (1993) and Parable of the Talents (1998)

Her "Xenogenesis" trilogy--now also known as Lilith's Brood--remains outstanding in my collection of SF for its creation and presentation of the most alien aliens ever, and for its account of humanity's uneasy accommodation to and integration with them. It's a series that never stops questioning.

There is this difference between the growth of some human beings and that of others: in the one case it is a continuous dying, in the other a continuous resurrection. (George MacDonald, The Princess and Curdie)

Isn't narrative structure enough of an ideology for art? (Greg Wright)

My social distancing book club will be discussing Dawn beginning July 7 (via zoom). Send me a PM if you want an invite...the group is centered on Goodreads, but it has developed mostly just as a place to put the Zoom link for weekly discussions.

If I would be acceptable, I would like join in. It's probably time for me to re-read this series. I hope I can stand it.
