Hi all,

I'm sure I am not alone in feeling a little bit overwhelmed by the sheer number of nominees to the Top 100. I have seen few (definitely less than a third) of the movies nominated, and many of the ones I have seen it's been a long time. Since I'm not a professional critic, and I don't keep a journal, I don't have any written record of my thoughts that was fresh from watching them.

So, I decided to make the problem more manageable. I'm going to make a list of the movies I will watch (both that I have never seen and that I have but need to re-see), and stick to a manageable number. That way, I can climb the mountain of my ignorance one step at a time.

So far, my list has 8 movies. I may of course add more... and if things get extra busy I may take some off.

Nominators: Surprised that I would choose that nomination instead of one of the other ones? Others: Thoughts on those choices?

Anyone else want to tell us what you're going to watch or re-watch?

Since we began the new discussion I have rewatched The Son, Dogville, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, Lorna's Silence, The Miracle Maker, Day of Wrath, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, The Notorious Bettie Page , and I am running out of gas. I now feel that I owe it to anything currently in the Top 35 that I can still get my hands on. The rest of them need to climb their way up this list as the winners already have.

So I still need to see: The Gospel According to Matthew, Ikiru, Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus of Montreal, Stalker (queued in my Top 5), Tender Mercies (promised Ron), A Man for All Seasons, The Hiding Place and After Life. (I very much doubt I will get to those last three.)

Also, The Mission and The Apostle. I've seen them both but it's been over a decade, maybe two.

Oh The Apostle... great idea, since it is sitting on my shelf! (Right next to Tender Mercies, which should also be included.)

Code Unknown and Army of Shadows are the first two rewatches that come to mind.

And when I was thinking about my top 10 of the decade list, I watched Flight of the Red Balloon, Syndromes and a Century, and The Lives of Others. My opinion of Balloon went way up, while Syndrome went down a little, although I was never super high on it to begin with, and Lives stayed pretty much the same.

I've also been thinking about doing a Three Colors weekend.
