I'm helping edit a book for a professor of mine and we're talking about the title. For reasons I can mention later, we're not sure about the title. Can you tell me which one "feels" better and give a very very short reason why? (something as simple as 'X sounds awkward' or 'Y would look better in a bookstore' is more than fine.) THANKS!

PS: the part I'm most interested in is the bit before the colon.

1 Demystifying Career after Graduate School: A Guide for Second Language Professionals in Higher Education

To be honest, this one sounds like an awkward Chinese translation.

2 Demystifying Academic Career Paths: A Guide for Graduate Students in Second Language Studies

It's not clear if the path in this title is within education (as a student) or after school is finished.

3 Demystifying Career Paths in Higher Education: A Guide for Graduate Students in Second Language Studies

I think this one is the best.

Wow, I was thinking almost the exact same thing. I guess Tyler's not wearing his tin foil hat tonight.

I also think 3 sounds clearest and flows smoothest.

He's fictional, but you can't have everything.

I was happy to scroll down and see that everyone else is picking #3 too.

I would do a combination of 1 & 3.

Demystifying Career Paths after Graduate School:...

Assuming that captures the essence of your book...

Here are my thoughts on the three as written:
1 is missing something with the way "Career" appears in the title.
2 seems ambiguous. Is the book about careers in academia or is it about ones academic work in relationship to a career path?
3 I believe the term "Higher Education" is too vague.
