murmurring...I wonder if you can get them at "Toys R Us"

"God is so great and merciful that he does not require that we name him precisely. God is even willing to be anonymous for a time. Remember how God led the Three Wise Men from the East to Christ? The Wise Men did not know the God of Israel or Jesus. They worshipped the stars. So God used a star to lure them."--The Twelve Steps for Christians

I bought Sarah a Jane Austen action figure for Christmas. There was a Charles Dickens figure as well, but I resisted the temptation to purchase both.

"What matters are movies, not awards; experiences, not celebrations; the subjective power of individual critical points of view, not the declamatory compromises of consensus." - Richard Brody, "Godard's Surprise Win Is a Victory for Independent Cinema," The New Yorker

I came up with this idea six or seven years ago in my philosophy discussion group. D'oh, I need to start acting on creative ideas.

I see no Heraclitus or Parmenides. Once again, the pre-Socratics are getting snubbed. Also, where is Kierkegaard? His name means graveyard, how much more gruesome can you get?

All of this makes me yearn to sing the Philosphers Drinking Song by Monty Python. Lets see if I can type it out off the top of my head.

Immmanuel Kant was a real piss ant

Who was very rarely stable

Heidegger, Heidegger

Was a boozy beggar

Who'd drink you under the table

David Hume could out consume

Schopenhauer and Hegel

And Wittgenstein was a beery swine

Who was just as schloshed as Schlegel

Ohhhh... there's nothin' Nietzche couldn't teach ya

About the raisin' of the wrist

And Socrates himself was permanently pissed

John Stuart Mill, of his own free will

Thought Shanty was particularly ill

Plato, they say, could stick it away

half a crate a whiskey, everyday

Aristotle, Aristotle was a bugger for the bottle

And Hobbes was fond of his dram

Rene Descartes was a drunken fart

"I drink therefore I am"

"Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others." - Groucho Marx
