Killers of the Flower Moon

Killers of the Flower Moon lays plain yet another appalling chapter of American history. The Reign of Terror in the 1920s saw the Osage people murdered by white people who felt the wealth from oil was their God-given right as the superior race. Apparently, they saw the Osage property as some sort of promised land that God had promised them. The story of Mollie Kyle Burkhart and her kindred is a nasty reminder of how too often in history the promises of God have been misappropriated as excuses to exact injustice on others deemed inferior. While it might be more pleasant to keep our head stuck in the sand, movies like Killers force us to face the ugly foundations of our country, and the privileges many of us enjoy today. — Lindsey Dunn (2023)
