For 2026, members of Arts & Faith curated a Top 25 list of spiritually significant films directed by women. The theme was one the group had talked of doing for years. After releasing the most recent edition of the Top 100 list in 2025, members of the group were dismayed to find that we’d selected only eight films by women directors. Our next priority became clear: shine the spotlight on the many talented but often unheralded women who have crafted spiritually compelling films since the beginning. Read project leader Lindsey Dunn’s thoughts about the list on the 1 of my Stories website.
If available, films titles are linked to a juror’s appreciation of the film.
